Yearn

Yearn is a decentralized finance (DeFi) platform built on the Ethereum blockchain. It was created by Andre Cronje and launched in 2020. The platform's primary goal is to help users maximize their returns on cryptocurrency investments by automatically allocating their assets to the highest-yielding opportunities available in the DeFi ecosystem.

Yearn consists of various protocols and products, including:

  1. yVaults: These are automated yield-optimization strategies that employ smart contracts to allocate users' deposited funds to various opportunities to earn the highest possible returns.

  2. Yearn Earn: This is an interest-earning product that automatically moves users' deposits between various lending platforms to find the best lending rates.

  3. Yearn Zap: A feature that enables users to easily swap and provide liquidity to different DeFi protocols.

Yearn has its native governance token called YFI. YFI token holders can participate in the governance of the platform by voting on proposals and updates. The token has no pre-mine, and it was initially distributed through liquidity mining, where users could earn YFI by providing liquidity to specific pools.
